Have you ever wondered how a stage show is put together? Would you like to come and help MTS backstage? Here is a rough guide to the backstage departments. If you are interested in getting involved backstage at MTS, fill in this form to contact us.
The stage crew are integral to the running of production and are responsible for moving all the scenery on and off stage, stage effects (such as pyrotechnics) and flying cloths and scenic pieces. We are always keen to welcome experienced and novice crew, particularly anyone who has been “On The Book”.
Our props team source or make all our props. They provide rehearsal props for the acting company to practice with and make sure that they are ready for every show. If you are good with your hands why not consider helping out?
We hire many of our costumes in from professional costumiers but our wardrobe team make alterations and running repairs as necessary. During the run of the productions they co-ordinate quick changes. The society maintains a store of costumes which are also utilised in our productions. Are you handy with a needle and thread?
Make-up and Wigs
Our make-up team provide the acting company with advice and assist with character make-up which varies greatly depending on the production. If you have experience of theatrical make-up we would love to hear from you.
Lighting and Sound
Our professional Lighting Designer and Sound Engineer always welcome assistance. If you are interested in the technical aspects of our productions, please get in touch.
