Musical Theatre Salisbury has existed for over 100 years. In 2012 we changed our name from Salisbury Amateur Operatic Society – or SAOS as we were commonly known – to Musical Theatre Salisbury. Our repertoire varies widely, from classic Broadway shows to contemporary musicals as well as the much-loved Gilbert & Sullivan operettas.
Rehearsals are usually held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:30 – 10:00pm and do of course become more frequent nearer a show week.
Our non-professional performers are of all ages and levels of experience: some with many years in musical theatre, and some who are newcomers to the stage. Musical and stage direction, choreography and technical production are in the hands of professionals.
We have our own large store of scenery, props and costumes, which are available for hire by other companies when we are not using them.
However, it’s not all hard work! Have a look here to see some some photos of the lighter side of being a member of MTS. Also take a look at the various performance workshops which are open to our members; how we get involved with and support the local community; and what our ex-members who have gone on to careers in the performing arts are up to.
